Rotary District 6450 Governor Nicki Scott paid a surprise visit to Joliet Rotary Club’s weekly luncheon. Her purpose: to present past Joliet Rotary Club President and current Assistant Governor Jane Hopkins with the District Rotarian of the Year award.

“This award was well-deserved by Jane,” said Scott. “Jane has gone above and beyond the duties of an Assistant Governor. She has successfully built a collaborative fundraiser for the primary mission of Rotary, eradicating polio.”

Scott also acknowledged Hopkin’s willingness to assume the trainer position in District 6450, the birthplace of Rotary, and create interesting content for the next generation of Rotarians. Hopkins joined the Joliet Rotary Club in 1999 and has served as Assistant Governor since 2012.

“Jane is a shining example of what it takes to be a successful district officer,” Scott said. “As an Assistant Governor, Jane is expected to look after three clubs. But she has reached out and is nurturing seven clubs in our district. That is a huge commitment.”
Joliet Rotary club president Bret Mitchell agreed with the selection of Hopkins for this award.

"There is no more deserving person for this award than Jane Hopkins,” Mitchell said.  “She truly exemplifies the Rotary ideal of 'Service Above Self'.  Not only has she done an outstanding job as Assistant Governor, she has taken on the added role of Rotary District 6450 Trainer.  Her dedication to this organization is truly remarkable.  The Rotary Club of Joliet is proud of Jane and I commend her on this
incredible accomplishment".
