Rotary District News

Vol. 1, Edition 23 - January 18, 2023

Information Every Club in District 6450 Can Us

Comments from Governor Ade

January is Vocational Service Month!

Vocational Service is one of the Avenues of Rotary Service. Vocational service calls on every Rotarian to work with integrity and contribute their expertise to the problems and needs of society. How are you contributing your expertise to your community? To the world? What opportunities are there at your club for Vocational Service? Do you know? Check out the Learning Center for more understanding of Vocational Service.

District Technology Chair – Good news! Keith Lamar Wallace, Club President of the Rotary Club of Tinley Park-Frankfort, has been appointed Interim Chair of the District Technology Committee. The committee is responsible for supporting clubs to better engage their members by leveraging technology for dynamic meeting options and continuously monitoring for new possibilities or enhancements. You can contribute your expertise and vocational service by serving on this committee. Contact me at arcabo@live.com or Chair Wallace at kwallace@lwsra.org.

District Committees are accepting members – Opportunities for vocational service. The district has many openings on various committees. Serving on committees is an opportunity for you to engage in Rotary and fulfill an Avenue of Rotary Service. Join a district committee and learn more about Rotary International. I implore you to share your talent while honing your leadership abilities and expanding your knowledge. Inquire about the following committees: Membership, Training, DEI, Interact & Youth Services, Youth Exchange, Mental Health, Community Services, and Public Image.

Coming in February... MEMBERSHIP ORIENTATION! The District Membership Committee will present three orientation sessions in February. See the District website and this newsletter for dates and times. I urge all members to register for one of the sessions. Learn about Rotary and share your experience with us. Register now on the calendar page of the district website.

Toy Giveaway – Thanks to the Rotarians who volunteered and donated funds to the Black Village Foundation on December 22, 2022, for the toy giveaway event in the Garfield Park neighborhood on the Westside of Chicago. Special thanks to the Rotary Club of Woodridge for their donation. We donated $1,310 in addition to $1,500 donated by the Naperville Rotary Charities.

Please continue to track your service hours and share a showcase of your work with Rotary and your community.

Yours in Rotary Service,

Ade Onayemi
